Coimbra Practicalities

Several trains stop at Coimbra B, 3km north of the city, from where there are frequent connecting services to Coimbra A. Normally the tourist office open:

Summer Monday to Friday between 9am-7pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 1pm and 2.30 to 5.30pm
Winter daily 9am to 6pm, telephone 239-855-930, www.turismo-centro.pt is opposite the bridge in the Largo da Portagem.

Near the station, the sleazy Rua da Sota and its side streets have a few pensions that aren't as bad as they look.

In Coimbra there are plenty of inexpensive places to eat around the centre, Actually it has also traditional coffee houses along Rua Ferreira Borges, notably Café Santa Cruz and Rua Visconde da Luz.
